Pars Today – The Foreign Minister of the Philippines, in a letter addressed to his Iranian counterpart, conveyed Manila’s gratitude for Tehran’s efforts in securing the return of Filipino sailors from the ship “Galaxy Leader.”
Enrique Manalo, the Foreign Minister of the Philippines, in a letter addressed to Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressed appreciation for Iran’s efforts in facilitating the return of 17 Filipino sailors from the “Galaxy Leader” ship to their homeland.
He described these efforts as indicative of the long-standing friendship and goodwill present in the relations between the two countries.
According to Pars Today, the Philippine Foreign Minister sincerely thanked Iran for its valuable cooperation and support in this matter.
It is worth noting that, over the past few months, the Islamic Republic of Iran had been pursuing the release and repatriation of the crew of the “Galaxy Leader” through diplomatic channels. On January 23, the crew of the ship returned to their home countries via Oman.
Previously, the Mexican government also announced its gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran for assisting in the return of several Mexican nationals who were aboard the “Galaxy Leader.”
On November 18, 2024, amidst widespread attacks by the Zionist regime on the Gaza Strip, Yemen’s armed forces seized the Israeli ship “Galaxy Leader” in the Red Sea in solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people.
On January 23, Yemen’s Supreme Political Council announced that the crew of the Galaxy Leader had been released as part of Yemen’s operations to support Gaza and in line with the ceasefire agreement.
