Pars Today – Tanks of the Zionist regime’s army raided the Palestinian refugee camp in Jenin. On Sunday night (February 23), Israeli tanks stormed the Jenin camp in the northern West Bank for the first time since 2002.
According to Pars Today, Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of the Zionist regime, stated during a press conference at a graduation ceremony for officers in Holon, near Tel Aviv, that the Israeli army will continue its operations in the West Bank and Lebanon.
Since January 21, 2025, the Zionist regime’s army has expanded its military operations, dubbed “Iron Wall,” in cities and Palestinian refugee camps in the northern West Bank, particularly in the provinces of Jenin, Tulkarm, and Tubas. Palestinian officials have warned that this operation is part of Netanyahu’s cabinet plan to annex the West Bank and declare sovereignty over it.
Meanwhile, Israel Katz, the minister of war of the Zionist regime, stated that the regime’s forces will remain in Jabal al-Sheikh and the buffer zone with Syria for an indefinite period. He added: We will not allow the residents of the West Bank to return to the camps we have entered. The Israeli regime’s minister of war further emphasized that the war will only end with two objectives: the return of all Israeli prisoners and the end of Hamas’ rule in Gaza.
Netanyahu rejects security agencies’ recommendations to release Palestinian prisoners
The American news outlet Axios reported on Sunday (February 23), citing sources within the Zionist regime, that Benjamin Netanyahu, despite recommendations from security agency heads, delayed the release of 600 Palestinian prisoners.
The outlet noted that the heads of the Zionist regime’s security agencies had advised Netanyahu to make every effort to conclude the second phase of the ceasefire agreement or extend the first phase.
Under the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between the Resistance and the Zionist regime, over 600 Palestinian captives were supposed to be released on Saturday in exchange for the handover of six Israeli prisoners. However, the regime once again violated the agreement and refused to release the Palestinian captives.
On Sunday (February 23), Netanyahu’s office expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which Israeli captives were handed over, claiming that Hamas had deliberately undermined their dignity and used them for propaganda and political purposes.
Meanwhile, Basem Naim, a Hamas leader, told Reuters that Hamas would not engage in any dialogue with the enemy through mediators regarding the next steps in the ceasefire agreement unless the Palestinian captives are released.
