Pars Today – The events in Syria have highlighted an important point for many analysts that there is a special relationship between Tahrir al-Sham and Israel, based on which the developments are moving forward.
According to Pars Today, the Iranian newspaper Etemad Online wrote in an article on this issue: After the fall of Bashar al-Assad and the entry of Tahrir al-Sham into Damascus, and even before that, sporadic news was published about the connection of Tahrir al-Sham and many Salafist groups opposed to Bashar al-Assad with Israel.
Perhaps the most important reason for this claim is the establishment of a field hospital at the height of the clashes between the Syrian central government and opposition groups in the occupied Golan, which was even visited by Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and met with the wounded armed groups at the time.
“Abu Mohammad al-Jolani”, who today calls himself “Ahmad al-Shara”, introduces himself as a Syrian, interestingly, like “Saad Hariri”, his father has been active in Saudi Arabia for a long time and he was born there.
Opposition media believe that the Israeli media cartel and its associates do not allow the publication of information about this relationship at the moment, and only by matching the evidence can we reach clues about this issue. In contrast, Jolani’s supporters claim that opposition media fabricate the news to damage Jolani’s image.
However, looking at the reports published in this regard, we see that not only the media aligned with the resistance axis but also some opposition media have reached the same conclusion, and they also accuse Jolani of cooperating with Israel.
These media emphasize that despite all the attacks Israel has carried out in Syria over the years, not a single case has been seen or heard where points near the location of Tahrir al-Sham forces have been targeted, and Israel has interacted with Tahrir al-Sham on Syrian soil.
Perhaps one of the most important reasons for this claim, which is still valid, is Jolani’s stance on the military advance of the Israeli army into Syrian territory.
He, who is currently the undisputed leader of Syria and is likely to be the country’s future president, has hardly mentioned Israel’s invasion of Syria in any of his interviews, and when he did, he did not mention Israel.
This fact led some Arab analysts to talk about at least indirect coordination between Tahrir al-Sham and Israel, especially since Israel was one of the first parties to recognize Jolani’s government and introduce him as the main player in the current Syrian scene.
Another reason cited by experts is Jolani’s position on the Palestinian issue.
It is no secret that Hamas was one of the first groups to congratulate the fall of Bashar al-Assad, claiming that it had removed its office from Damascus due to its opposition to Bashar al-Assad. This is while after more than 14 months of the Israeli army’s brutal attack on Gaza, Tahrir al-Sham, as a radical Sunni organization, has not issued a statement or comment condemning Israel’s actions, while Hamas is also a Sunni organization and the people of Gaza are Sunni Muslims.
Some analysts close to Jolani justify this alignment by claiming that perhaps Jolani’s and Tahrir al-Sham’s interests sometimes coincide with those of Israel, but this does not mean an alliance.
However, the support of Turkey and Qatar, which are among the countries in the region with more than good relations with Israel, can also confirm the theory of Israel’s support and active presence in advancing Jolani’s activities until he reaches the political peak in Syria and transforms from a terrorist under prosecution to a political figure.
