Pars Today- Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, ruling out Tehran’s Syrian policy to be based on the apparent changes, words and slogans, said, “We wait for the transitional government to be properly settled and announce its policies about the region and other countries. Then we will decide on the basis of behaviors.”
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, added in his interview with the Chinese TV channel CCTV, “Iran’s interaction with Syria will depend on the conduct of the other side in Damascus. Iran has complete goodwill and wants calm in Syria.” According to Pars Today, emphasizing the need for all regional countries to cooperate and contribute to formation of an inclusive government comprising all Syrian ethnicities and groups, Araghchi made it clear, “The Syrian territorial integrity and unity should be preserved.”
Underscoring the need to prevent Syria from turning into a haven for terrorists and a threat for neighbors and the region, Iran’s top diplomat stressed that these principles are unanimously agreed upon in the region.
Iran’s foreign minister concluded, “The final decision will be taken by the Syrian people as they are the main rulers of the country.”
Syrian armed opposition groups started their operation from northern Syria on November 27, 2024 with the aim of deposing Bashar Assad and took control of the capital, Damascus, after 11 days (December 8) to declare Assad’s exit from the country. Then, Mohammed al-Bashir was introduced as the head of the transitional government till March, 2025.
