What is Trump seeking with the tariff war?

Pars Today – According to observers, the U.S. President has initiated a trade war against China and Europe.
On his second day in the White House, President Donald Trump threatened to impose 10% tariffs on Chinese goods imported into the United States starting February 1.
As reported by Pars Today, citing Tasnim, Trump claimed that any tariffs on Chinese goods would be imposed due to the shipment of fentanyl drugs to Mexico and Canada.
He also announced that he is considering imposing similar tariffs on imports from the European Union.
The U.S. President stated: “We have a $350 billion trade deficit with the European Union. They treat us very badly, so they should expect tariffs.”
In this regard, Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded to the new U.S. President’s threat to impose 10% tariffs on China, saying: “We have always believed that there are no winners in a trade war or tariff war. China is firmly committed to safeguarding its national interests.”
On the other hand, Pedro Sánchez, the Prime Minister of Spain, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, described U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats to impose tariffs on the European Union as a so-called “zero-sum game.”
Political experts believe that the new U.S. President’s positions and statements indicate his intention to impose Washington’s will on its trade partners and disrupt the global economic and trade order.
