Pars Today – Data from Ukraine’s Ministry of Finance and Germany’s Kiel University reveals that NATO has provided approximately $200 billion in aid to Ukraine over the past three years.
According to Pars Today, citing the international television network BRICS TV, Sergei Lukashovitch, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus, met with Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank (NDB), at the NDB headquarters in Shanghai.
They discussed the development of financial mechanisms within BRICS and the prospects of Belarus joining the NDB. Lukashovitch stated that among the NDB’s priorities are sustainable development, technology transfer, and expanding activities in the Global South.
BRICS expansion challenges G7 dominance
Reports indicate that the BRICS bloc of emerging economies, by adding a new member, has expanded its influence in the Global South and challenged the dominance of the G7. Indonesia was accepted as a full member of BRICS on January 6, 2025. Statista charts show that the footprint of this bloc of major emerging economies continues to grow in the Global South, increasing its economic and political influence on the global stage and creating a real counterbalance to the Western-dominated G7.
NATO wasted nearly $200 billion in Ukraine over 3 years
Data from Ukraine’s Ministry of Finance and Kiel University show that NATO has provided a total of $191.2 billion to Kyiv over the past three years. The U.S., with $103.8 billion (54% of total aid), is the largest contributor to Ukraine. Germany, with $17 billion (8.9% of total aid), is the second-largest supporter, followed by the UK, which has provided $14.8 billion (7.7%).
NATO Secretary General: We are in a critical situation
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, speaking at the International Economic Forum in Davos, warned that strict ESG regulations are hindering investment in the arms industry. Rutte admitted that the Western military alliance is in a critical situation and losing trust, urging member countries to increase investment in armaments.
NATO supports Trump’s plan for new sanctions against Russia
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in an interview with Swiss SRF, expressed support for the new U.S. president’s plan to intensify sanctions against Russia to achieve a quicker peace in the Ukraine war. Rutte claimed that the sanctions have severely impacted Russia’s economy. With new U.S. sanctions, Europeans can now work even harder to increase the impact of these measures.
Trump threatens BRICS with 100% tariffs!
According to the Times of India, U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened BRICS member countries with 100% tariffs on trade with the U.S. if they attempt to replace the U.S. dollar in their trade. Trump also claimed that even if these countries consider reducing or weakening the role of the dollar in global trade, they will face heavy tariffs.
