Pars Today – On Sunday, Iran’s Embassy in Bern, referring to the liberation of the city of Khorramshahr by Iranian fighters on May 24, 1982 during the Iraqi-imposed war on Iran, declared that the victory sent a powerful message to the world that no force can break the spirit of a nation determined to resist and defend its territorial integrity.
In a post on the social network X commemorating May 24th, the Day of Khorramshahr’s Liberation, the Embassy wrote: “Khorramshahr, the city of blood and fire and a symbol of resistance, which was occupied during the eight-year imposed war by Saddam’s army with support from global powers, was retaken by Iranian fighters after 578 days of relentless battle, with unwavering faith and boundless courage.” (ISNA)
