Pars Today – A surge in MERS virus cases in Saudi Arabia just weeks ahead of the annual Hajj pilgrimage has raised concerns about the health risks posed to the large crowds of pilgrims.
According to a Saturday announcement by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health, at least nine people have contracted the MERS virus—a close relative of the coronavirus—since March. Of these, two have died. Six of the most recent cases were healthcare workers at a hospital in Riyadh who became infected after contact with a symptomatic patient./ ISNA
