Pars Today – The speaker of Iran’s Parliament (Majlis) said on Tuesday evening that the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union is important for enhancing relations among Islamic countries. He added that the participation of 38 Islamic countries in this conference presents an opportunity to further develop ties among them.
Before departing for Jakarta, Indonesia, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated: “We are heading to Jakarta to participate in the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC). The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a founding member of the PUIC and host of its Secretariat in Tehran, is considered one of the Union’s most influential members.”
The speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly added that over 38 delegations from Islamic countries are attending the conference. He expressed hope that this short visit would be used to its fullest potential./ IRIB news agency
