Ny times: persian gulf unified iranian people

Pars Today – An American news outlet reported that US President Donald Trump, prior to his trip to the West Asia region, raised the issue of renaming the ‘Persian Gulf.’ The US daily said “This inappropriate statement angered and further united Iran and its people.”
The New York Times, in an introductory piece about news surrounding Trump’s plan for the Persian Gulf’s name, referenced history. It noted that the azure body of water has been called the “Persian Gulf” since at least 550 BC, when the Persian Empire of Cyrus the Great stretched from India to the western edges of Europe. The American newspaper, calling the name change a fabrication, further states that ancient Persia is now modern Iran, and all of its southern coastlines are situated along the Persian Gulf./ ISNA
