Pars Today – The Vice President of Iran stated that the Iranian government is placing special emphasis on emerging technologies and basic sciences, particularly in the fields of quantum and photonics, and is interested in collaborating with Russia in these areas.
Andrey Fursenko, Special Assistant to the President of Russia for Science and Technology, who led a high-ranking delegation to Tehran, met with Hossein Afshin, the Scientific, Technological, and Knowledge-Based Economic Affairs Vice President of Iran. They discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), advanced technologies, and their applications across various industries.
According to Pars Today, Iran’s Vice President for Science and Technology highlighted Iran’s capabilities in artificial intelligence during his meeting with the Russian Presidential Assistant for Science and Technology. He noted that despite lower investment in computational infrastructure compared to other regional countries, Iran has managed to establish appropriate infrastructure and train highly skilled human resources in this field within less than a year.
Afshin emphasized the importance of collaboration between experts from different fields and AI specialists, adding: “In artificial intelligence, programmers alone are not sufficient; intermediaries are needed between various technologies and AI experts.”
The Special Assistant to the President of Russia for Science and Technology welcomed proposals for cooperation with Iran, stressing the growing importance of artificial intelligence in today’s world. He stated, “The need for artificial intelligence to solve complex problems and optimize processes is being felt more than ever.”
Fursenko, noting that AI has become a global topic of the day, said: “If artificial intelligence is used correctly and with precise planning, it can help overcome many challenges and provide innovative solutions to existing problems.”
