Pars Today- Commander of the IRGC Navy informed of Iran’s access to the technology of manufacturing missile-launching frigate with a speed of 116 knots (215km/h).
Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy, stressed the self-sufficiency of the force in making various types of frigates, missiles, drones and submarines, on the National Day of Persian Gulf (April 30). According to Pars Today, Rear Admiral Tangsiri said, “The missile-launching frigate with an extraordinary speed of 116 knots, after successful passing of technical and expertise tests, is ready for its missions in the Persian Gulf.”
The IRGC Navy commander, referring to Iran’s spectacular achievements in the field of marine industries, reiterated, “During the period before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iran was not able to make even a small fishing boat and the American companies would do this. But, today, we have manufactured Martyr Soleimani frigate with state-of-the-art technologies which is able to navigate non-stop in oceans up to 5000 miles.”
Considering the Persian Gulf’s importance as natural, Tangsiri added, “Having 1735km of direct coastal line and 5800km with islands taken into account, Iran enjoys a unique status in the region.”
Pointing to the presence of the Portuguese for 117 years in the Persian Gulf, he stated, “This presence, when there was no oil and gas, indicates the historical and strategic importance of this region.”
Rear Admiral Tangsiri, noting the economic significance of the Persian Gulf, said, “This region plays a very important role in the export of oil and gas in the world so that %40 of the gas and %62 of the oil of the region is exported from the Persian Gulf.”
Stressing the peaceful approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Tangsiri made it clear, “We have sent the message of peace and friendship several times to the regional countries and have always been after peace, friendship and brotherhood.”
The IRGC Navy commander, referring to the commutation of more than 80 ships from the Strait of Hormoz every day, considered maintenance of security of this waterway as an honor for the IRGC Navy and continued, “Insecurity in the Strait of Hormoz has broad international impacts on the global economy; hence, it is of extraordinary importance to keep its security.”
Emphasizing that the presence of foreigners disrupts security in the region, he said, “The enemies are in pursuit of two goals, namely, illegitimate presence in the region and sale of weapons; and to materialize these goals, they need to fabricate enemies.”
This IRGC top commander stressed, “Iran, as a country which has the highest share in the Persian Gulf, considers the security of the region as vital for itself and deems the presence of foreign forces in the region opposite to its interests and those of the neighboring countries.”
