Iraqi analyst: indicators of iran's power forced us into negotiations

Pars Today – “Mohammad Ali,” an Iraqi political analyst, stated that the threat of Iran’s response to any potential aggression by the Zionist regime and Washington’s awareness of the nature of this reaction pushed the US towards negotiations with Tehran to resolve issues.
According to Pars Today, citing Mehr News Agency, Iraqi political analyst “Mohammad Ali” said on Monday: Iran sought real guarantees for the nuclear agreement before starting talks with the United States. The Iranian side described the first phase of indirect negotiations with the US as positive, conducted in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
The Iraqi analyst added that these negotiations witnessed no concessions from the Iranian negotiating team. Although the US has tools of pressure to escalate tensions in the region, Iran also possesses its own leverage. For this reason, Tehran became confident that Washington had entered negotiations due to concerns over the risks posed by any Israeli regime attack and the possible Iranian response.
Iran’s upper hand in talks with the US: Washington’s retreat from certain demands
Lebanon’s Al-Mayadeen news platform also published a report on Saturday about the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the US held in Amman: Tehran is currently in a stronger position regarding its nuclear program and rejects any halt to its nuclear activities.
The report continued, stating that the Iranians expressed their willingness to come to the negotiating table with several motivations. First, the negotiations could lead to the lifting of economic sanctions on the country. Second, Tehran gains enough time to reorganize its strategies in the region. Additionally, Iran has opposed US political demands.
Al-Mayadeen’s report highlighted that Iran is currently in a stronger position regarding its nuclear program and rejects any suspension of its nuclear activities. In contrast, former US President Donald Trump stated that he only opposes Iran acquiring nuclear weapons but does not oppose the program itself. This shift in position can be seen as one of the retreats by the US.
This change in stance comes despite repeated assertions by US officials emphasizing the need for the complete dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program. Therefore, it is clear that Washington has been forced to back down from some of its excessive demands in negotiations with Iran.
