Pars Today- The British crimes indicate to what extent this country has oppressed free, independent and developing nations. This new package of Pars Today is going to briefly review the most important crimes of the British throughout the political life of the country.
The pages of history are full of the crimes of the three countries of the United States of America, Britain and France. These countries have recorded the most heinous crimes in history under the guise of human rights, freedom, human security, women’s rights and other bombastic humanitarian slogans. Britain has committed crimes in Afghanistan, India, Iran, Iraq, South Africa and Yemen and other regions which are unique in the world history.
1- British crime in Afghanistan
The first war of Afghanistan and Britain took place in Helmand Valley in 1839-1842. This war was one of the first great military expeditions of the 19th century which occurred during the rivalry for power and influence in Central Asia. This war is known as the “Great Game” of the British empire. The war led to the death of a big number of the people around Helmand Valley and caused panic in Afghanistan.
2- Occupation of India and deadly famines
According to various historical sources, during the British occupation of India in 1770s, over 10 million Indians lost their lives just in the state of Bengal as a result of famine, hunger, disease, harassment and torture by British military or forced labor. Another famine happened since 1942 due to the colonial decision of the British government and Churchill which led to the death of approximately 5 million Indians.
3- Boer War in South Africa
Britain imprisoned thousands of innocent people in the forced labor camps during the Boer War (1900-1902) only to prevent the likely risks of civil insurgency. In one year, %10 of the Boer people succumbed to diseases and hunger in these camps so that the British government could reach its colonial goals in Africa. The British policies for controlling the South African people resulted in nearly 48,000 civilian deaths, including women and children. This figure is apart from 30,000 deaths of the Boer War.
4- Genocide of Iranians in 1917-1919
Britain has committed innumerable crimes in Iran during history. But, in one of these crimes, almost %40 of the Iranian population died during the carnage of the years 1917-1919. In other words, the British kingdom massacred 9-10 million Iranians during these years mainly through imposed famine, cholera and other epidemics. According to the documents of the American state department, Iran’s population was 20 million in 1914, but this number decreased to 11 million within 5 years because of the genocidal policies of the British empire.
5- Chemical bombing of Iraq by Britain
The chemical bombing of Iraq in 1919, with the direct order of Winston Churchill, is one of the nefarious human crimes throughout history. In those days, the British air force in West Asia called for testing chemical weapons on the Arabs who were toughly resisting. The criminal British War Minister, Winston Churchill, declared his full support for using toxic gases against the Iraqi clans. The usage of lethal gases continued in 1920s, too. The British air force, also, used these weapons in 1925 to suppress the people of Sulaymaniyah in Iraq.
6- Massacre of Germans by Britain in WWII
Britain and France declared war against the Reich Germany on September 3, 1939. Two days later, Britain started bombing of the German cities and civilian centers. The first airstrike was launched on September 5 against the cities of Cuxhaven and Wilhelmshaven. Westerland was bombed on January 12, 1940. 110 explosive and fire bombs (napalms) were dropped over the cities of Kiel and Hörnum on March 20, 1940. The air raid destroyed a hospital completely. In April 1940, the British bombers launched massive strikes against the cities which had no military facilities or significance.
7- Massacre of North Ireland people
Between the years 1970-2000, British military forces killed more than 300 Irish women, children and men. All these victims were unarmed civilians who had posed no danger for the British soldiers. There were Catholic priests, old women, children and even young girls among the dead. The British government has released documents that the British soldiers involved in the carnage of civilians in Northern Ireland were granted amnesty in 1972.
8- Carnage of Yemenis
The torture centers of Aden in 1963-1966 were other scenes of British crimes on planet earth. In 1960s, Yemenis decided to take control of the harbor. The British considered the best way for suppressing the opponents to build ghastly torture centers. Jailing the opponents naked in “supercooled” cells caused many of them to succumb to pneumonia. Burning the captives’ bodies with cigarette, forcing them to sit on a surface full of ploes and raping were other types of tortures in these centers.
