According to Pars Today, the 11th meeting of the environment ministers of BRICS member countries was a special opportunity for Iran to present its views on environmental issues on the international stage and showcase its diplomatic capabilities. The presence of Shina Ansari, the Vice President of Iran and head of the Department of Environment, as Iran’s representative at this summit, played a key role in introducing Iran as an active and innovative country in the field of environmental protection.
As reported by IRNA, the senior advisor to the head of Iran’s Department of Environment stated that the Vice President presented practical and effective proposals at the summit, which highlighted Iran’s role in offering environmental solutions. One of the main proposals presented was the creation of the BRICS green innovation fund. This fund was proposed to finance environmental projects and develop sustainable technologies, and Iran emphasized that it could help developing countries combat the effects of climate change.
Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia: BRICS grain exchange to strengthen global food security
According to Pars Today citing TVBRICS, Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, held a meeting last week on the subject of establishing a BRICS grain exchange.
According to the Russian government’s press service, participants at the session discussed options for creating and launching the exchange, as well as mechanisms for interaction with commercial platforms, grain producers, and exporters. Patrushev noted that this initiative would strengthen global food security. He also noted that in 2024, this idea received support from the agriculture ministers of the BRICS countries and the leaders of the alliance.
Egypt expresses interest in expanding cultural ties with BRICS
Egypt’s Ministry of Culture intends to boost cultural cooperation with BRICS countries. Rania Abdel Latif, head of the Foreign Cultural Affairs Sector at Egypt’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, expressed this in an interview with the Middle East News Agency (MENA), a partner of TVBRICS. She noted that since Egypt joined BRICS in 2024, culture has become one of the key areas of interaction. A representative of the ministry stated that after Egypt joined the group, a national commission was formed with representatives from various institutions.
BRICS countries convene in Brazil to present digital solutions for sustainable development
In other news, Brasilia hosted a seminar on digital initiatives organized by the BRICS Working Group on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) with the support of Brazil’s Ministry of Communications. Discussions at the event focused on the sustainable development of digital technologies, energy efficiency, and the circular economy. The Brazilian side presented an emergency alert system that uses a mobile network to inform citizens about natural disasters, even if their phones are on silent mode.
