Pars Today- According to a report of “War Costs” project of Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, 232 journalists have been martyred during the Israeli war against Gaza.
A report of the “War Costs” project of Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs shows that the attacks of the Zionist regime on Gaza have resulted in martyrdom of 232 journalists, averagely, 13 people per week. According to Pars Today, this figure has turned the Gaza war into the most fatal war in history for media activists.
Al-Jazeera channel, releasing an article, wrote, “The number of the journalists who have lost their lives in the Gaza war has surpassed the total number of the dead in this profession during the two World Wars, Vietnam war, wars of Yugoslavia and the American war in Afghanistan.”
According to the announcement of the “Costs of War” project, this war has really been the worst military conflict in history for journalists.
This report adds that it is not clear how many Palestinian journalists have been directly hit by the Zionist regime military in Gaza and “how many of them, like tens of thousands of civilians, have just been victims of the Israeli bombardments.”
Yet, the report recited from the “Reporters sans frontierès” (Reporters without Borders), based in Paris, that till the end of 2024, it has registered 35 cases in which the Occupying army has probably targeted and killed journalists due to their professional activity.
According to the report, the attacks on Gaza, where no foreign journalist is allowed to enter, have worsened the situation so that local journalists often get meagre wages and facilities while facing the highest risks.
The report also says that, “All over the world, the economy of this profession, war violence and coordinated censoring battles have turned war zones into news graveyards with Gaza as the most evident example.”
