Pars Today – “Islamic unity” and solidarity among Muslims are among the most fundamental and essential topics in the political and cultural thought of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
The importance of “Islamic unity” to Imam Khamenei is such that he has introduced it as a “strategic matter” rather than a tactical one, consistently calling on scholars, intellectuals, political elites, and the entire Islamic community to unite under the guidance and teachings of the Holy Quran and devotion and love for the Prophet of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In the thought of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the unity of Muslims and their avoidance of division and discord provide a favorable ground for “collective resistance against the oppression of the domineering system” and “defending the violated rights and interests of the Islamic world.” What you will read in this Pars Today package is a selection of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s statements on Islamic unity.
Unity of Muslims: A strategic matter
Imam Khamenei, in a meeting with members of the organizing committee of the World Conference of Ahl al-Bayt on April 14, 1990, described the unity of Muslims as a strategic matter, noting that the issue of Muslim unity in the Islamic Republic is a fundamental one.
Alignment of Muslims on issues of the Islamic world
The Leader of the Revolution, in a meeting with officials of the Revolution on August 15, 1995, stated: “The meaning of unity among Islamic nations is that they move in harmony on matters concerning the Islamic world, assist one another, and do not use their resources against each other within these nations.”
Warning about enemies’ efforts to undermine Muslim unity
Imam Khamenei, in a meeting with the country’s officials on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr on October 2, 1999, emphasized the necessity of recognizing the enemy and warned about the efforts of enemies to strike at Muslim unity, stating: “The enemy feels weak in the face of the great Islamic movement; thus, it resorts to various forms of psychological warfare, diverse attacks, instilling fear among Muslim nations and countries toward one another, and propaganda against each other. The solution is for the Islamic world to preserve its unity.”
The necessity of setting aside religious differences
One of the serious harms facing Islamic societies today is religious discord. The Leader of the Islamic Revolution has stated in this regard: “At present, intensified efforts are being made to ensure that Muslims are not united and instead work against one another. These efforts have particularly intensified at a time when the need for Muslim unity is greater than ever.”
Formation of a united Islamic front
Undoubtedly, one of the key solutions to overcoming the problems of the Islamic world and achieving political, cultural, and economic independence is the formation of a united Islamic front. Ayatollah Khamenei has stated in this regard: “The Muslims of the world must unite.
Throughout history, whenever Muslims were united, maintained solidarity, and acted around the axis of Islam and the Quran, the schemes of their enemies had no effect on them, and they neutralized all the conspiracies of arrogance.”
