One gold and three silver medals for Greco-Roman wrestlers on the first day of Asian Championships
The competitions for the first five weight categories of the Asian Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships were held on Tuesday in Amman, Jordan, where Iranian representatives won one gold and three silver medals.
For Iran, Fardin Hedayati won a gold medal in the 130 kg category. Mohammad Mehdi Keshtkar in the 63 kg category, Alireza Abdevali in the 77 kg category, and Yasin Yazdi in the 87 kg category all secured silver medals.
AFC Beach soccer Asian Cup; Iran advances as group leader
The national beach soccer team of the Islamic Republic of Iran advanced to the knockout stage of the AFC Beach soccer Asian Cup as the group leader after achieving its third consecutive victory.
In their third match in Group C of the 11th edition of the Asian Beach Soccer Championship on Tuesday in Thailand, the Iranian team faced the UAE and succeeded in defeating them 4-3. With this victory, the Iranian beach soccer team topped their group with 9 points. The Iranian players had previously won their first match against Indonesia with a score of 12-2 and defeated Afghanistan by 14 goals in their second match.
Four gold and bronze medals for freestyle wrestlers at the Vardanyan Cup in Armenia
The competitions for the first five weight categories of the international U23 freestyle wrestling tournament “Vardanyan Cup” took place on March 24 and 25 in Armenia. The Iranian youth freestyle wrestling team secured gold medals through “Ebrahim Elahi” in the 70 kg category and “Mohammad Mehdi Mamivand” in the 74 kg category. “Arshia Haddadi” in the 57 kg category and “Sajjad Pirdaie” in the 65 kg category also won bronze medals.
Victory for Iranian table tennis player in first step of Slovenia tournament
On the first day of the “Feeder” table tennis competitions in Slovenia, “Elina Rahimi,” a young Iranian table tennis player, faced “Angela Rodriguez” from Spain in the preliminary round and won with a score of 3-1. The 19-year-old Rahimi will meet “Andrea Pavlovic” from Croatia in the second preliminary round. The Slovenia Feeder table tennis tournament is ongoing from March 25 to 30, featuring four Iranian athletes.
