Pars Today – Officials of Greenland censured the upcoming trip of a high-ranking American delegation to the island which the US President, Donald Trump, has proposed to buy.
A high-ranking American delegation, led by Usha Vance, wife of the US vice-president, is to travel to Greenland in near future. The decision has been seriously lambasted by the semi-autonomous region of Denmark. According to Pars Today, the provisional government of Greenland, in a statement, ruling out the recent remarks of the US President, Donald Trump, about sending an invitation by this self-rule island to Washington for dispatching an American convoy to the region, stressed, “We have not sent any invitation to Washington.”
The provisional government of Greenland wrote in this statement, which was published on its personal account of Facebook, “The Greenland government has not sent any invitation for any kind of visit, such as private, official or unofficial, to the American officials.”
Mute Egede, the Prime Minister of Greenland, who is spending his last days in office, called the US delegation’s trip in the next days as “provocative” and said that his government will not visit with this delegation.
Mette Frederiksen, the Danish Prime Minister, whose country controls Greenland, said in a statement that he considers the US delegation’s trip to the island as “serious”.
Trump has threatened several times to get the control of Greenland. Denmark and the officials of Greenland have also warned several times that the island is not “sellable”.
Greenland enjoys a geostrategic situation and rich mineral resources. This island is the shortest way between Europe and North America and is very important for the US Ballistic Missile Warning System.
