Reduction of Islamophobia in France
The French newspaper Libération reported that Islamophobia and racist acts recorded by the French Ministry of Interior against Muslims, which had increased in 2023, decreased by about one-third in 2024.
According to data from the French Ministry of Interior, a total of 173 anti-Muslim incidents were recorded in 2024, fewer than the number reported in 2023 (242 cases), showing a nearly one-third reduction (29%). Of these, 52 cases involved attacks on property, while the rest targeted individuals.
Danish extremist misses the mark
“Rasmus Paludan,” leader of the far-right Danish party Stram Kurs, stated that his recent request to burn a copy of the Quran was rejected by Danish authorities. According to Paludan, these officials have prohibited any Quran-burning activities in the capital.
Islamophobic attack on Muslim women in Australia
An attack on two Muslim women, aged 26 and 30, at a shopping center in Melbourne, Australia, resulted in their hospitalization. Australian police stated that the attack likely had racist motives, and investigations are ongoing. Meanwhile, the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) condemned the attacks on the two Muslim women, one of whom is pregnant.
Burning of Salwan Momika’s body in Sweden
According to reports in some media outlets, Swedish authorities announced that they cremated the body of Salwan Momika, who desecrated the Quran in Sweden, after no one claimed it. Momika, who described himself as an anti-Islam activist, was shot dead on January 29 in the Hovsjö area of Sweden.
