Imam Khamenei, in a message following the conclusion of Iran’s participation in the 2024 Olympic Games, expressed his gratitude to the athletes, federation presidents, and Iranian coaches.
In response to a letter from the President of the National Olympic Committee addressed to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, providing a report on the sports and cultural achievements of the members of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s sports delegation at the Olympics and bringing joy to the hearts of sports-loving Iranians, Imam Khamenei expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the spirited and determined Iranian athletes.
According to Pars Today, Imam Khamenei in the margin of the President of the National Olympic Committee’s letter wrote:
I sincerely thank the dear, spirited and determined athletes, the presidents of the federations, the coaches, and the National Olympic Committee, who brought joy and pride of Iran in the field of sports in the recent competitions. May you continue to be successful, God willing.
In his letter, Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, the President of the National Olympic Committee, referred to the achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s sports delegation, named “Khadem al-Reza (PBUH).” He highlighted several sports and cultural accomplishments of the Iranian athletes, including the unprecedented participation of women in Iran’s sports delegation, their remarkable performance, and the attainment of significant titles in some fields for the first time in the Olympic Games.
Iran’s delegation in the 2024 Paris Olympics won medals in several fields and became the team champion in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling and the runner-up in taekwondo. Iran ranked 21st among more than 200 participating countries in the Olympics, above Ukraine (22), Belgium (25), Denmark (29), Austria (36), South Africa (44), Egypt (52), Turkey (64), and India (71).
