Qalibaf: Iran always standing against oppression in defense of Muslims
Iran’s Majlis Speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, in the meeting with his Ethiopian counterpart, Sheikh Ibrahim Tufa, during his trip to the country, stressed the significance of unity among Islamic sects in the world and the presence of Sunni Muslims in the Iranian ruling system and said, “Today there are 26 Sunni lawmakers in [Iran’s] Islamic Consultative Assembly.” Pointing to Iran’s permanent standing against oppression as a defender of all Muslims regardless of their sect, he made it clear, “No doubt, if the Islamic Ummah is integrated and stands against the American enmity, it will be successful.” Ibrahim Tufa, for his part, informed of the improving situation of Ethiopian Muslims and, appreciating Iran’s role in supporting Muslims, said, “We consider Iran as the symbol of world Muslims. Iran is like a heart which grants life to the Islamic world.”
Emphasis on unity in meeting of Sunni scholars’ caravans
A group of Sunni thinkers and scholars of Umra (Minor) Hajj caravans of the Islamic Republic of Iran met with Hojjat-ol-Islam Najafi Rouhani, head of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s mission in holy Medina. He stressed the importance of unity among Muslims and reflecting the realities of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The participants also discussed the issues and problems of Sunni scholars during this journey.
Pakistani Sunni music band performs in Iran; love of Ahl al-Bayt has no border
“Saberi Brothers” music band of Sunni Muslims from Pakistan attended an afternoon TV program in Iran and, having performed Qavali music, spoke of their deep love for Imam Ali and the Ahl al-Bayt of the Prophet (Peace upon them). Afzal Saberi, the bandleader, said on the sidelines of the program, that knowing Imam Ali, the testamentary legatee of the Prophet, is tantamount to discovery of truth inside human being. He added, “This band recites poems in praise of the Ahl al-Bayt to transmit profound human messages to the audience in the form of Qavali art.”
News conference of “Qodsian” poetry congress
The news conference of Qodsian poetry congress, dedicated to Sunni poets was held in the central building of Islamic Propagation Organization in Palestine Square of Tehran. Hojjatol-Islam Qomi, head of the organization, Mohammad Mehdi Dadman, head of the artistic center, Saeed Lashkari, deputy for provinces, and a group of artists and professors of art and culture from Iran attended the event. Qodsian poetry congress is the first congress focusing on Sunni poets.
Documentary production about Sunni scholars’ struggles kicks off in West Azarbaijan
Hojjatol-Islam Seyyed Mohammad Saeed Azad Mousavi, head of the Islamic Center of West Azarbaijan province, pointed to the sacrifices of Sunni scholars during the struggles against the enemies of the Islamic Republic system in various eras, and said, “Producing a documentary of the oral history of these struggles has been put on the agenda of this center in three phases of pre-revolution, war era and fighting DAESH.” Explaining the programs of the Committee of Proximity of Islamic Denominations affiliated to the Ten-Day Dawn (Fajr) Headquarters of the province, including the gathering of Sunni Friday prayer leaders of Tehran and sending 18 of West Azarbaijan prayer leaders to the gathering, he stated, “Paying attention to the axes of the Second Phase of the Islamic Revolution, clarification of the objectives of the system to form a united Ummah and clarification of the status of Sunni Muslims in the Islamic Ummah are among the strategic goals of this committee.”
