A foreign policy expert: salvation from domineering system and US was among main causes of Islamic Revolution in Iran

Pars Today- An expert of foreign policy issues described “Political independence” in the international domain among the most important achievements of the Iranian people’s revolution.
Seyyed Reza Sadr-ol-Hosseini, specializing in foreign policy issues, referred to the achievements of this field after the Islamic Revolution and said, “One of the most important achievements of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran was to gain access to the success which was chanted as one of the main slogans of the Islamic Revolution, namely, the blessed word, “independence”. The main and unforgettable slogan of the Islamic Revolution was Independence, Freedom and Islamic Republic. Iran was not colonized by any country throughout history, but during the Pahlavi era, [it] was too much dependent on the US so that the independence of decision and will of the Iranian nation and the integrity of the country was at stake.”
According to Pars Today, Sadr-ol-Hosseini said in an interview with Mehr news agency, “One of the main causes of the Islamic and popular Revolution in Iran was the issue of dependence on the domineering system led by the US. Regarding the geopolitical and geo-cultural situation of Iran in West Asia and the world, independence has been considered as a conspicuous issue after the victory of the Islamic Revolution.”
Therefore, the slogan of “Independence, freedom and Islamic Republic” has turned into one of the most important and lasting slogans among the Iranian public since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
This expert of foreign policy issues added, “With regards to dependence and the existence of potential and de facto capabilities in the field of efficient manpower and ample material facilities, the Iranian nation was in pursuit of attaining political independence as a dream.”
Sadr-ol-Hosseini stated, “Independence in the political sense of the word means that a nation is able to make decision within the framework of its own legal structure based on national interests and expediency and [then] put those decisions into action.”
He went on to say, “Today, 46 years after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, political independence in the international domain is deemed as one of the most important achievements of our Islamic and popular revolution as, among nearly 200 UN member states, there are few countries which can claim the mentioned concept of independence in every affair; and many thinkers of political sciences believe that the Islamic Republic of Iran is among few independent countries in the international arena. Insistence on this independence has been one of the top reasons for the domineering system’s increasing hostility against the Iranian nation, because this very national insistence has made us distinct among the two groups of countries, namely, domineering and domineered.”
This expert reiterated in the end, “Thanks to persistent endeavor, unique leadership and benefiting from pure Islam, after the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian nation managed to gain its historical independence. Definitely, preservation and deepening of the gained independence can have remarkable and undeniable impact on the all-out progress of the country and honor of the nation.”
