Imam Khamenei: The JCPOA experience shows negotiations with the U.S. solve no problem

Pars Today -Imam Khamenei this morning, Friday, during the anniversary of the historic pledge of allegiance by Iran’s Air Force personnel to Imam Khomeini (God bless his soul) on February 8, 1979, in a meeting with commanders and personnel of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Air Force and Air Defense Army stated: “Negotiating with the United States is neither wise, intelligent, nor honorable .”
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the historical day of Bahman 19 (February 8) as the birth of a proud, independent, and identity-driven army.
He pointed to the fruitless experience of nearly two years of negotiations with the United States during the 2010s and America’s subsequent disregard for all its commitments, adding: “Negotiations with the United States solve no problems, including economic and livelihood difficulties, just as they did not in the past. Therefore, the solution to our problems lies in ‘the dedication of committed officials and the support of the united nation,’ which, God willing, we will witness this unity on Bahman 22 (February 10).”
According to a report by Pars Today, citing the official website of the Leader’s office, Imam Khamenei continued by highlighting the extensive diplomatic efforts of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in negotiating, engaging, and concluding agreements with countries worldwide, and emphasized: The only exception here is the United States. Of course, we do not overlook the Zionist regime as an exception either, because it is not a government but rather a criminal gang and usurper of land. Explaining why the U.S. is an exception to negotiations, the Leader stated:Some pretend that sitting at the negotiation table will resolve certain issues, but the reality we must understand is that negotiations with the United States have no impact on resolving the country’s problems.
Imam Khamenei described the negative experience of the 2010s, specifically the nearly two-year negotiations with the U.S. and several other countries that led to the nuclear agreement, as proof of the futility of negotiating with the United States, adding:
Our government at the time sat with them, engaged in back-and-forth discussions, negotiated, smiled, shook hands, formed friendships, and ultimately signed an agreement where the Iranian side made significant concessions to the other party. However, the Americans did not honor that agreement.
Referring to the current U.S. president’s statements about tearing up the JCPOA, he noted:Even before him, the previous U.S. administration, which had accepted the agreement, failed to implement it. The sanctions that were supposed to be lifted were not, and the issue at the United Nations remained like a thorn in the wound, always looming over Iran as a threat.”
In this meeting, Imam Khamenei also addressed the Americans’ efforts to redraw the global map, stating:This effort of theirs has no basis in reality and exists only on paper. Of course, they also make comments, talk, and threaten us.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution emphasized:If they threaten us, we will threaten them back. If they act on their threats, we will act on ours. And if they endanger the security of our nation, we will undoubtedly respond in kind.
He described defending Iran as the top priority and strengthening the military as the most important duty, adding:
The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran must be continuously strengthened in terms of human resources, armaments, training, combat and defensive readiness, addressing weaknesses and vulnerabilities, fostering innovation, and producing groundbreaking advancements. It must prove that it can reach even greater achievements.
On Bahman 19, 1357 (February 8, 1979), a group of Air Force personnel met with Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at Alavi School in Tehran. They officially declared their allegiance through a parade. This meeting and pledge dealt a critical blow to the Pahlavi regime, which was subservient to U.S. policies. The Islamic Revolution of Iran, led by Imam Khomeini, triumphed on February 11, 1979 (Bahman 22, 1357).
