Pars Today – Reports indicate that the U.S. President is attempting to seize the Gaza Strip and may recognize the Zionist regime’s sovereignty over the West Bank of the Jordan River.
Donald Trump, the U.S. President, in the presence of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, justified his new plan by referring to the horrific and shocking devastation caused by Israel during the 15-month war. He stated: The Gaza Strip is not a suitable place for Palestinians, and a good, new piece of land must be provided for them.
According to Pars Today, this new stance by the U.S. government suggests that Trump intends to collaborate with Benjamin Netanyahu to divide the remaining Palestinian lands between themselves.
Previously, Trump had said that Palestinians living in Gaza should be relocated to Egypt and Jordan to facilitate the reconstruction of Gaza’s ruins. Now, the U.S. President has taken a step further, speaking about control over Gaza and ownership of this small but densely populated strip on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea.
A man who was active in the construction industry in his youth and now holds the office of the U.S. presidency is attempting, under the guise of humanitarian pretexts, to depopulate the war-torn Gaza region and rebuild its destroyed structures. All this while he has no intention of seeking the opinions of the very people devastated by the war.
For this reason, he talks about the necessity of displacing 2.5 million people living in Gaza. He has also raised the possibility of annexing the West Bank, home to more than three million Palestinians, into Israeli-controlled territory (the 1948 Palestinian lands).
In this way, the idea of a two-state solution between Israelis and Palestinians will effectively be set aside by the current U.S. administration, and alongside Israel, they will occupy the remaining Palestinian territories.
So far, all Arab countries have unanimously opposed Trump’s idea of relocating Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt and Jordan. However, it is assumed that Trump is counting on the political-economic influence and the formidable power of the U.S. military against Arab countries, especially Egypt and Jordan.
In other words, if the U.S. military is deployed to enforce control over Gaza, forcibly opening Egypt’s borders to relocate hundreds of thousands of Palestinians into Egyptian territory, Cairo would likely lack the courage to resist.
Nevertheless, it seems unlikely that the Palestinian people, who have held onto the ideal of liberating their homeland despite 80 years of occupation, war, and massacre, would remain silent or surrender in the face of American occupation.
Therefore, contrary to Trump’s claims of establishing peace in West Asia and providing a peaceful life for millions of Palestinians, the new U.S. President is actually igniting new wars in the region. The flames of these conflicts will not only burn the countries of the region but will also catch the Americans, as part of the occupying forces in Palestine, in their fire.
Peace and stability in Palestine will only be achieved when the injustices against millions of Palestinians are addressed, and they attain the country they desire. Otherwise, the occupation of Gaza by Americans or the recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank will merely be attempts to whitewash the problem without offering a final solution to a chronic issue.
