41st round of the international holy Qur’an competitions was held with 62 representatives from 27 countries in the holy shrine of Imam Reza (Peace upon him) in the holy city of Mashhad, northeast of Iran. Hojjat-ol-Islam Mohammad Ahmadzadeh, Director General of Endowment and Charity Affairs of Khorasan Razavi province said, “Holding these competitions in the holy shrine of Imam Reza indicates unity of both Shia and Sunni reciters and memorizers of the holy Qur’an.”
Iran’s president stresses Islamic unity
Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a message to the closing ceremony of the 41st round of international holy Qur’an competitions in the holy city of Mashhad, saying that Muslims have been called as united Ummah in the Qur’an, called on them to cling to the divine cord and gather round one axis to prevent any disunity. He made it clear, “According to this basis, we should do our best to materialize the unity, equality and brotherhood mentioned in the Qur’an in the Islamic communities.”
5th specialized center of religious sciences of Sunni Muslims opened in Bandar Abbas
The 5th specialized center of religious sciences of Sunni Muslims was opened in Bandar Abbas with the Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST), a group of Shia and Sunni scholars and Secretariat of Council of Planning for Sunni seminaries in attendance.

Sunni scholars held an intimate meeting with the Speaker of the Iranian parliament (Majlis), Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf. Referring to the formation of DAESH terrorist group by the enemies of Islam, Qalibaf said, “We are all indebted to the Islamic ulema, both Shia and Sunni ones. The ulema have stood alongside each other against plots in a brotherly manner.”
