Pars Today – The mayor of New York condemned any form of violence and Islamophobia in the city.
Johanna Mikl-Leitner, the governor of Lower Austria and a politician from Austria’s People’s Party (OVP), recently claimed in an interview with ORF, Austria’s state television network, that the country must fight against Islam.
According to Pars Today, Mikl-Leitner’s remarks come as the head of Austria’s Islamic Religious Community (IGGO) has demanded an explanation from the governor regarding her anti-Islamic statements, while the leader of Austria’s left-leaning Socialist Party (SOZ) has called for her immediate apology.
No to spreading hatred against religions
Eric Adams, the mayor of New York, took a strong stance against Islamophobia on Tuesday and condemned such actions. In a statement, he emphasized that hate-mongering will not be tolerated in this city. The mayor also assured Muslims and other religious communities that they have the right to practice their faith in peace and security, and that the New York Police Department will work to ensure their safety.
